Haze in Singapore: Stay In and Have Your Pies Delivered

The haze is back in Singapore, and a lot of us are staying indoors. When the air outside is unhealthy, a trip out for dinner is one trip you can skip.

What the official advice says

The National Environment Agency (NEA) publishes the air quality reading, the PSI, at haze.gov.sg. In short:

• Unhealthy (PSI 101 to 200): healthy people should reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical activity. The elderly, pregnant women and children should minimise it, and people with chronic heart or lung disease should avoid it.
• Very unhealthy (PSI 201 to 300): healthy people should avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical activity. The elderly, pregnant women and children should minimise outdoor activity, and people with chronic heart or lung disease should avoid it.

How we can help with pies

Dinner is one of the easiest trips to skip. Here is what we can do:

• Delivered to your door. We deliver every day, in one-hour slots between 11am and 8pm. You choose the day and the slot at checkout. For the same day, delivery orders close at 6pm, and the earliest slot starts at least 90 minutes after you order.
• Warm and ready to eat. Baked pies arrive warm on the day you choose. One family tray (1.3 kg) feeds 4 to 6 people as a meal on its own.
• Frozen, for the next haze day. A frozen family pie keeps up to 6 months in your freezer. Bake it at 200°C for 40 to 60 minutes whenever you like, so one delivery can cover a few days without going out.
• A pie for someone who should stay in. Send one to a parent, a grandparent or a friend with Gift a pie. Pick the pies, add a message and their address, and choose the day.

Delivery is free for orders over $150 after discounts. It comes in a one-hour window, such as 3pm to 4pm, because traffic and weather on the day are hard to predict. Self-collect is there too, but on the worst haze days, delivery means you don’t have to travel out at all.
